Introduction: What is the Difference Between Hardware and Software?

Technology plays a big role in our daily lives, and to understand how computers and devices work, it’s important to know the difference between hardware and software. These two terms are often used together but mean very different things.

Hardware refers to the physical parts of a computer — the things you can see and touch, like the CPU, keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, etc. They are the body of the computer system.

Software, on the other hand, refers to the programs and instructions that tell the hardware what to do. These are things you cannot touch, like Windows, MS Office, mobile apps, games, browsers, etc. Software is like the brain that controls the body (hardware).

In simple words:
🔹 Hardware = Physical components
🔹 Software = Instructions and programs

Both hardware and software work together to make a computer or smartphone function properly. Without one, the other cannot work.
